I have been a business associate of Scott for more than twenty years. During this time Scott and I have assisted each other in our different career challenges.

Our business faced the double pressures of facing a new tender process in a tough ocean freight market, as well ass a relatively new CEO who was putting further cost pressure on the supply chain; these focused us further to seek the best service at the best prices that we could find. We had been through a 3 month tender process with 5 separate large and small freight companies out n the market, including an incumbent who we had a 10 year relationship with. Our answers were putting us approximately 20% worse off year on year cost wise. This was unacceptable to us – thus we found Benchmark solutions. Benchmark were able to forensically analyze the data we had (our ERP systems have abundant data), and with their skills and resources were able to get to the granular level of costs per shipment, per document shuffle, per transaction. Leading to an approximate 20% saving year on year. Our business was facing approx. $900,000 increase across a $5-6 million spend so now having a 20% cost saving, tremendous result. We had no interruption in supply, and stayed in the end with our incumbent, maintaining that close working relationship and outstanding customer service which they provide us. This continues to allow MCP to maintain good competitive advantage with lower supply chain costs which drives better EBIT numbers for our business. I was very glad for our time and efforts together with Benchmark solutions.

Our business wanted to understand did we really have Best of Breed pricing for our Waste Management services. It’s an area that typically we don’t pay much attention even though the cost was $77k. My first introduction to Scott Noakes, and his company, Benchmark Cost Solutions, was by way of referral, in mid 2016. Energy Costs: Laverton base in Victoria. After much negotiation with the provider (AGL) I had thought I had achieved the best possible price. Then Scott became involved, and the next day, Scott achieved a further 7% saving from best cost. A saving of $13k over 3 years. Waste Management: After working through the costs with the broker we arrived at a comparable position to the existing provider, but with a saving in the order of 25%. Unfortunately, and as is the case within the waste industry, customers are always bound by contracts/agreements with their waste providers, and most time unaware those contracts in place as they either roll over automatically on expiry. However, and undeterred by this Scott continued to provide our company good advice, and with that advice, we were able to engage more formally with our existing provider and negotiated prices not too different to what Scott had achieved, a commitment to etter management of their on-site service, and no more rolled over contracts. In short my personal association with Scott has been fantastic. It is not always in business you come across someone whose delivery is equal to his follow up, and service commitment to his clients. Another feature of Scott and his company, they are not limited to a just a handful of cost alternatives, they are diverse, and have many ideas worthy of consideration.
